Day of the Dead

My friend Jessica recently turned me on to a wonderful artist named Sylvia Ji. I absolutely love Sylvia's paintings. Many of her paintings are themed for Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Once I saw her portraits, I knew I needed to get a model, a makeup artist and create some cool images.

I contacted face painter Amanda Destro of Amanda's Elaborate Eyes and I had my artist. I then contacted another Amanda, a friend of mine, who I knew would be the perfect model. We then got to work!

In this picture, you will see Amanda painting Amanda. In model Amanda's lap you will see the Sylvia Ji image that we were using as a guide for the face make up.

We also thought that it might be cool to paint model Amanda's hands and feet with spider webs to match the makeup on her forehead.

After the makeup was complete, here is some of the art we created.

Model Amanda... before and after

Outtake - Here is model Amanda thrilled to be nearly done with the 2 1/2 hours worth of make-up being applied. The last of the makeup applied to her ankles was drying.

And one of me and model Amanda together. I can't wait to work with you again on a new project with makeup artist Amanda.
